Earthquake

23 June 2010, 13:40

5.5 Richter scale earthquake happened here in Ottawa
They say it was a mild earthquake
I say it was one of the longest and scariest 30 secs of my life

Alhamdulillah nothing bad happened to us.
Panic was an understatement.

situación numero uno:

"ida sental dapur kuat sgt ke sampai bergegar rumah?" mind you, they've been cleaning the kitchen rigorously before the earthquake happened. And seeing our squeaky woody house, ida sental dapur agak kuat n possible je kut rumah tu bergegar
"dah la xsolat zuhur lagi time ni" another thought occured
"sarah, pegi amik tudung cepat" and I even needed to be reminded to wear the tudung before going out of the house
Imagine how panicked we are at that time

situación numero dos:

And there's a friend of mine, when the earthquake happened, shahadah came out of her mouth first
MashaAllah. Sayangnya Allah dekat dia
Why I didn't even thought of reciting the shahadah?

Alhamdulillah, there's no recurrence of the earthquake
Conclusion: Banyak lagi yg kene repair.

A clean cut please.

I had a 5-page book review on some boring book about American Judaism. But I ask for a 5-page biochem lab report when truthfully, I'll complaint too if I have to write those reports.

I am dead broke. I spend my money recklessly. And I complaint about my sky-rocketing rogers bill.

Human nature,
Sesungguhnya manusia itu dijadikan bertabiat resah gelisah (lagi bakhil kedekut);
Apabila ia ditimpa kesusahan, dia sangat resah gelisah;
Dan apabila ia beroleh kesenangan, ia sangat bakhil kedekut [70:19-21]

A self reminder.
Maka bersabarlah (wahai Muhammad terhadap ejekan golongan yang kafir itu), dengan cara kesabaran yang sebaik-baiknya. [70:5]

By stop complaining. Sabar.

A lot has happened. Yes, a lot. And so does a stream of complaints that comes out from my mouth.
I should know better. Maybe I should.

A lesson learnt from Atiqah Khuzaini dan mereka2 yg saya syg. *kte mencapub sket nama awak kt sini eyh tiqah*

p/s: jangan kejam. jangan selfish. kesian lah.
p/ss: kalau nak post comment from "comelest" atau ape2.. please leave your name behind. thank you. :P

A Bend in the Road, A Pebble in the Shoes

Volunteered for the Islam Awareness Week on the 15th-19th March.
Did gain a lot from the experience.
Terasa sgt rendah diri when compared to all other brothers and sisters who can confidently explain about Islam to others.

Guy: Why are you wearing this headscarf? *points to the hijab*
Me: Well, Allah asks us to. and I just obey since He's the Creator and the Almighty
Guy: Just because of that?
Me: Yes~~ at first it is hard since I wear it when I was 13. But later on I realize that what He asks us to do is probably what's best for us. He's our Creator and He knows what's best for His creations. *and tertambah dlm hati "and whatever happens, that's because it's the best for you. He knows what's best."*

Dush!
Sila tumbuk diri sendiri. Pandai cakap je. Xreti2 nk buat.
Senang je nk ckp "He knows what's best"
Tapi susah sgt nk apply dlm real life.
Part hijab boleh plak. Part lain xreti2 ke nk fikir cmtu?

Tumbuk lg skali.
Dush!

Xpe. Cuba lagi.
Jom jadi baik.

saje nk mencapub.. weee~

ok, nk tgk bola. bye :D

Where Allah wants us to be

I received this email from a very dear friend of mine last week and I do feel like sharing this.

"As you might know, the head of a company survived September 11 (US terrorist attack) because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.

One of them missed his bus..

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.

One's car wouldn't start.

One went back to answer the telephone.

One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.

One couldn't get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a band-aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... all the little things that annoy me, I think to myself, this is exactly where Allah wants me to be at this very moment..

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; Allah is at work watching over you.

May Allah continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose."

Interesting isn't it? Nothing coincidence happens in life. Teringat this one time. I want to go to school and I was quite late actually. While walking to the bus stop, the 117 bus just passed through. And yeah, i missed it. Time tu mulut xstop2 membebel la kan psl tertinggal bas. Then, i decided to take the 111 bus to Confederation and take the O-train to Carleton instead. After riding the bus, I saw the 117 bus that I missed stranded on the side of the road. Turns out the bus rosak. And time ni baru la fikir "nasib baek xnaek bas tu.".

Wherever you might be at times; be it late for school, or you left your phone and have to go back and get it, or etc, Allah wants you to be there at that time. No matter how annoying it is, everything happens for a reason eyh?

Neuschwanstein Castle. *sorry random*

A word to the wise? Not really~

2010 arrives and i don't feel the need of more unfulfilled new resolutions since some of the past hasn't even been resolved yet which are:

  • i want to get straight A's in all my subjects.. Blerghh.. I'll bleed throughout the process and it doesn’t even come close. Well, the least I can wish for is to be at least better than last semester perhaps.
  • i want all the excess fat to go to my hands instead of my cheek. Boleh? It seems that how much food i consumed, it prefers to go to my cheek instead of to my overly-thin wrist. "Cam ranting yg boleh patah2kn je" some used to say this. ceyt.
  • and some others which i don't feel the need to bore you to death with.

Anyhow, to sum it up, i just want to be a better person than i used to be before.

and.. and..

there's this one thing i want and i know i'm not going to get it. Don't laugh ok. I want to be a tad taller than I am now~~ A tiny bit will do.. Hah! Don't laugh please. This is serious matter ok. I can save more money if i gain more height. you know why i can save more money? Coz i don't have to buy over-expensive petite jeans at topshop. Instead, i can use it to buy shoes perhaps.. (@.@)

stop dreaming missy. You’re 21 now.

Okaaay~

2010 already came leaving 2009 as a memory to ponder. A lot happened in 2009. It starts with a happy note, contains a mixture of sad, anger and more happy things and is wrapped up with a little bit of sad note there *screwed up an exam*. but hey, it's not all bad. Experiences can teach you more than you can ask for. The mistakes you made act as signs for you not to repeat it. Wasn't experience the best teacher in life?

Yes, it is. 2009 taught me a lot. In fact, it's more than i can take. It's like carrying a big boulder on your shoulder where you feel that you want to throw the boulder away but you realize that it's glued to you and you have to find ways to live with the boulder on your shoulder. Eughh. Crap example. Bear with me. I can't put my thoughts into proper words now. But what i want to say is there are some problems that won't go away and you have to find ways to bear with it and not letting it affects your whole judgment in the process.

Hurtful times. Countless tears. Mounds of efforts. And He who always be close to you. These make me a stronger person now. And hopefully always. InsyaAllah.

Winners VS Losers

A quote found years ago in my mom's office.. And here goes..

♦ The Winner is always part of the answer;
The Loser is always part of the problem.
*********
♦ The Winner says, "Let me do it for you";
The Loser says, "That is not my job."
*********
♦ The Winner sees an answer for every problem;
The Loser sees a problem for every answer.
*********
♦ The Winner says, " It may be difficult but it is possible";
The Loser says, "It may be possible but it is too difficult."
*********
♦ When a Winner makes a mistake, he says, "I was wrong";
When a Loser makes a mistake, he says, "It wasn't my fault."
*********
♦ Winners say, "I must do something";
Losers say, "Something must be done."
*********
♦ Winners are a part of the team;
Losers are apart from the team.
*********
♦ Winners see possibilities;
Losers see problems.
*********
♦ Winners choose what they say;
Losers say what they choose.
*********
♦ Winners follow the philosophy of empathy: "Don't do to others what you would not want them to do to you";
Losers follow the philosophy, "Do it to others before they do it to you ."
*********

So, never give up people.. We're born as fighters and winners.

jealousy.. jealous-ness

what is jealous? it's a feeling of resentment towards other's success, advantage, etc2. it can also be because the feeling of suspicion or due to fear. How far can we tolerate this feeling? How insignificant the situation for us to call them petty and how much jealous is it until we call it too much?

For me, i do feel jealous towards other people. Jealous towards those who are clever.. Jealous towards others that has a much better things in life.. and etc2.. These are all positive feelings, i guess. Because it motivates me to work hard to get all the things that i want.

However.. There are things that people will call it jealousy, but i won't.. Things that makes me wonder why it's not happening to me, but happens to others. Or why someone treats me this way, but treating others differently.. I don't say that i'm jealous or whatsoever. For me, i would say that i feel "terkilan" rather than jealous. (but thinking about it, there's a small portion of jealousy in there i guess)

I try not to question other's way of treating me, but it can't be helped when there's some dissatisfaction at my side. Or there might be reason on why some are doing that to me. :)

given choices.. making decision..

Everybody did experienced when they are placed in a situation where they have to choose one thing over the other. It is easy if one thing is good and the other is.. not so good. You'll probably choose the good one over the other. But what if both things are good? What determines your decision to choose one over the other?

Pros and cons - that's what people always do. Choose the one that is better than the other. This is easy with things; choosing a diamond ring over a gold one (if the person loves diamond more than gold), a cheap pirated cd over expensive original cd (prices and money determines one's choices).

But what if the way you act is the one that you have to choose? This is the hardest part for me i guess because it involves the heart and usually heart works the other way round than what your mind says. :P

To follow what your friend said or not... to leave someone you love or not... etc2.. These things requires mind strength. Because what you decide might seem okay to your mind but rather killing the heart, or the other way round. I can't say stick with your decision even if it kills you because sincerely, i don't think i'm able to do that and "kill" myself. I guess you just have to go with the flow and see what happens. Things changes and SOMETIMES your decision must change too.

Or people would say follow your instinct. Follow your heart. Coz maybe it'll lead to happiness or ease of heart and you'll get your peace of mind..
